Upcoming Public Foraging Classes Winter 2024

It's been raining and pouring and everything is growing!

While winter rains can put a damper on moods, everything now is green and lush and there are so many wild edible plants waiting to be picked!

This election day, bring your family and come forage with Adara Peskin Shalem, long-time foraging instructor and author of the foraging cookbook, Penniless Foodie in the Wild.

 

Meeting at the parking lot in the verdant Yaar Ben Shemen Forest, conveniently located just a few kilometers from Modiin, and within short drives of both Jerusalem and the Merkaz, as well as being public transportation accessible, we will learn about the delicious and abundant wild edibles growing under our feet.

 

Note- this is not a hike; we will be standing still for some of the time because there is such abundance and diverse wildlife even in small areas.

We will cover, of course, foraging safety rules including how to forage safely in urban areas, how to tell apart edible wild plants from any poisonous look alikes, as well as how to use these plants in the kitchen and your medicine cabinet.
