Foraging Classes Open to the Public

It's time to forage! Though everything looks dry and dead in the summer, there are still so many wild edibles to be found. Come join a foraging class open to the public with your friends and family and learn to see the world in a different way. 

Jerusalem Urban Foraging Dates:
Tuesday August 9, 2022, at 10:00 am-12:00 pm. Gan Sacher.

Friday, August 12, 2022 at 10:00 am-12:00 pm. Around and in the Ramot Forest.

Wednesday, August 17, 4:30-7:00 pm. In and around the Lifta, Jerusalem.*

75 shekel per person.

 

Non Jerusalem Urban Foraging Locations:

Friday, July 29, 10:00 am-12:00 pm, Near Savidor Station, Tel Aviv

 Tueday, August 9, 3:00 pm-5:00 pm, Around and In Memorial Grove Park, Efrat.

Wednesday August 17, 10:00 am-12:00 pm, Tzeelim 2, Ramat Beit Shemesh

75 shekel per person.

 

 Foraging and Cooking Experience in the Forest:

Sunday, August 21, 4:00-7:00 pm. Yaar Ben Shemen, near Modiin.

 100 shekel per person. Includes a full dairy kosher meal.

Important points to note:

  • Urban foraging means foraging in a city. You will be learning about plants and their uses but they will not be in "the wild", which is part of the point, learning how to use what grows near you!

  • Other than the Lifta class, these are not hikes. We may not cover much distance, because there are so many plants to cover in a small area.

  • The relevant halachot of foraging including shmita rules will be covered and adhered to.
